Gazing Through A Lens: Ali Khan Documents Nineteenth-Century Iran
This short documentary (20 min.) explores a photo album from the late 19th century. Iran. Created by Ali Khan Vali, a local governor in Iran and an avid photographer, the album is a unique collection of over a thousand photographs. Ali Khan’s meticulous documentation of landscapes, settlements, historical monuments, and people’s everyday-life opens a window to life in an era that is considered one of the critical moments in Iran’s history.
